OUR STORY

Hey there! I’m Coach Chris, a certified personal trainer & jump rope coach who’s trying to bring the joy of jump rope to as many people as I can. I am the founder of The Jump Rope Company and with the help of dozens of dedicated individuals around the world - we are leaders in both our industry and global community. How did we get here? And where did it all start?

“Jump rope changed my life”

Ever since I was young I struggled to find a sport that I truly belonged in. I tried everything from football to swimming to skateboarding. It wasn’t til I picked up my first jump rope at age 20 that I finally found what resonated with me at the deepest level. And it changed my life. How?

My physical fitness excelled including endurance, power output and core strength

My mental health improved including my body-image, stress management and confidence

My coordination improved such as my balance, body awareness and rhythm

My confidence blossomed as I found the online community of jumpers who have become my second family

2016-2018

In the following years, I began studying in my spare time (whilst working full time) to become a Personal Trainer & help others benefit from jump rope too. After completing my Level 3 diploma by FutureFit Training, I was presented with a unique opportunity to spend some time in Los Angeles and San Diego with professional jump rope coaches & world champions, Nate KG & Mike Fry. This experience gave me the tools to teach jump rope to others & enabled me to understand jump rope theory on a deeper level. Following this I a certificate in freestyle jump rope coaching from RX Smart Gear and an honorary certification from Punk Rope.

2019-2020

I set about my mission to share jump rope with the UK. I began teaching clients in the gym and children in schools. This was unfortunately interrupted by the pandemic. I was furloughed from my day job, so I dedicated all my time & energy to growing the online jump rope community whilst everyone jumped in their back gardens. During this time, I raised over £2,000 for my local hospital and their key workers, and I was also approached by The Daily Telegraph to speak about the benefits of jump ropes the trend continued to grow.

Beaded ropes, at the time, were almost unheard of in the UK’s reaction space in 2020. So I set on a mission to develop and manufacture my own, using local manufacturing to reduce the carbon footprint and offer the more affordable ropes. I improved the existing design by developing & introducing the world’s first thickened cord beaded rope, which is now our flag ship product - available in white & black - another industry first! And the community loved it. My thickened cord beaded ropes quickly became the preferred choice for beginners and advanced jumpers alike.

2021-2022

I quit my day job on 21st February 2021. Then on 15th March 2021, The Jump Rope Company was born. Our team began to expand, both in the HQ with rope builders helping keep up with the orders, and across the world. We partnered with other dedicated individuals to offer our unique thickened cord beaded ropes to jumpers across the world. The goal was as a simple as ever before - make jump rope accessible, affordable and fun.

As the popularity of our thickened cord beaded ropes grew, we continued expanding the patterns we offered. At one point we offered over 130 unique and colourful designs, organised in ‘collections’ based on themes, as well as fully bespoke custom beaded ropes at no extra charge. This was the largest range of designs ever offered by a jump rope brand.

As lockdowns eased in the UK, we began hosting free-to-attend public meet-ups. People from all over the world flew in to meet and jump with friends they’d made through jump rope. It was the beginning of something beautiful. By the end of 2022 we had already hosted 13 UK meet-ups and seen hundreds of jumpers build real-life connections and friendships through jump rope.

As lockdowns have eased and things began to slowly return to some version of normal in the UK, I resumed my mission to get the UK to jump rope. I now host regular meet ups across the UK and attend motivational talks & workshops at schools to educate children on the benefits of jump rope.

2023-2024

2023 was the year things went truly global. We hosted free-to-attend events in over 10 countries across South East Asia, North America and Central Europe connecting with thousands of jumpers all thorough a combined pass for jump rope. Our distributors hosted events in their own countries, further growing the community right across the globe, from Vancouver to Berlin to Taipei.

In July 2023, the beta version of Tricktionary+ was launched, a learning platform developed & coded from scratch by me. It enabled users to track their progress throughout their jump rope journey, earn badges for their hard work and discover thousands of tricks & combos. It was, and still is the largest online resource for single-rope freestyle jump rope and the most affordable of its kind. This again kept true to our company’s mission to make jump rope accessible, affordable and fun.

2025…

In 2025 things have not changed for us at The Jump Rope Company. The mission is the same. Our team continues to do amazing things. Already this year we have sponsored our first ever jump rope athlete, Elise, who competed in the 2025 World Jump Rope Championships in Japan. We partnered with the Jump For Joy 100-Day Challenge to empower newcomers to get the most out of jump rope by giving them free access to Tricktionary+ for the duration of the challenge. In November we have are set to make history with our Jump Rope Convention, bringing together coaches, brands and community leaders from across the globe in an unprecedented effort to unify the global recreational community. Our mission

“Our mission is to bring jump rope & its benefits to as many people as I can.”

I truly believe in the benefits jump rope has to offer because I have seen these same benefits firsthand in not only myself but tens of thousands of others. Simply put, I want the world to jump rope.
