More Beginner Skills

The best part about jump rope is that there are countless things you can learn. Here are just a few more examples.

Mic Release Leg Over "Crougar" Awesome Annie EB Wrap

Mic Release

This is one of the most popular skills in jump rope and for good reason. It’s awesome! And despite how impossible it appears, it’s far easier to learn than you might think.

In this tutorial I have broken this skill down in three parts. Dedicate as much time as possible to each part. The key to unlocking the Mic Release is time. And lots of it.

Leg Over “Crougar”

The Leg Over is another foundational leg cross, just like the Toad. As we learned in Day 13, the Toad is a cross with one hand under our leg which we exit with an Open. A Leg Over is the exact opposite. such as that we jump the rope with our hands uncrossed and a leg over one arm, which we then exit with a Cross.

In this guide, I demonstrate how to use the toe catch to practice the Leg Over, and how we can build variations off a core skill.

Awesome Annie

The Awesome Annie is one of the most widely-recognised freestyle skills, and for good reason. It looks awesome!

In this guide I demonstrate how to unlock the Awesome Awesome using a series of progressions which will help you build up the balance and technique required to perform this skill.

EB Wrap

On Day 12, we learned how to do a basic Arm Wrap. We can also do an Arm Wrap with our wrapped arm restricted behind our back. This hand placement is called an ‘EB’, hence the name EB Wrap.

In this guide, I demonstrate how to use the toe catch to practice the EB Wrap, and how we can build variations off the standard version.
